Pheasant's Tears was founded in 2005 by American John Wurdeman and Georgian Gela Patalishvili, with the aim of preserving the ancient traditions of Georgian winemaking and bringing those traditions to the world. Their vineyards, which are up to 200 years old, produce wines that tell a rich cultural story of Georgia's 6,000-year-old winemaking history.

Pheasant's Tears has revived global interest in Georgian wines with their unique approach to winemaking. The 2022 Vardisperi Rkatsiteli is a prime example, made from the rare pink-skinned Vardisperi Rkatsiteli grape, an indigenous variety that has been almost lost to modernity. This rosy wine with skin contact undergoes six months of maceration in qvevri, traditional clay vessels buried in the ground, in accordance with ancient Georgian techniques.

It has aromas of raspberry and floral notes, followed by a taste of dried fruits, strawberries and fine tannins, with a clear acidity and a crisp, fine tannin. Its wild personality and crystalline acidity make it an outstanding wine in the world of amber/pink wines.

This unfiltered, additive-free wine is best enjoyed with a light shake or decant. Perfect for those who want to explore the exotic and distinctive wines of Georgia.
